Sen. Kyrsten Sinema wins Troll of the Year

We needed this badly:  Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) was there to hold the Bible for her new colleague, Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) who is being sworn in earlier than other new Senators because he is filling an unexpired term, that of the late Senator John McCain (R-AZ).  Kelly was sown in earlier today by Vice President Mike Pence (R-1882), who of course is known for his Religious Right affiliations.  It seems with the two Senators for every state system it had become traditional for the new Senior Senator of the state to hold the Bible for his or her new Junior colleague.  So Sinema — the only openly bisexual Senator now — did so wearing a purple wig and a leopard print coat!  Fantastic!!  Some reports noted Sinema has been wearing wigs lately to show solidarity with service workers and folks who can’t go out for personal services like hair care due to COVID-19.

Pink News commented “As the Democrats’ blue wave pushed Arizona towards Biden, the tableau of Pence, a vice president with a terrifying track record with LGBT+ rights, being face-to-face with a bisexual lawmaker in a pastel purple wig holding a Bible was truly a sight.”

Sam Stryker said, “Seeing Mike Pence have to swear in a Democrat senator while a bisexual woman in a purple wig and zebra print coat holds the Bible is EXTREMELY pleasing to me.”

Enjoy!

Update:  It was December 2nd, a zebra-skin coat, and I had no idea it’d bring out the rancor.  I understand there’s strong feelings on the armaments issues but I’m still glad I posted this.  Some of the comments remind me of a remark some radical Chicano activist said in 1973 about the just deceased President Lyndon Johnson:  “Some say he had Mexican blood.  He did, in the tips of his boots.”  That must’ve broken the heart of the man who taught school in the poor, heavily Chicano town of Cotulla, Texas.  We are all imperfect and our politicians even more so.
